The article deals with the peculiarities of rhyming compounds which are usually used as a means of speech expressiveness, but don’t belong to the system of rhyming slang. Rhyming compounds represent the group of minor types of word-formation in Modern English. The members of the group are less important in comparison with the other ways of replenishing the English vocabulary, but they play an important role in the field of expressive means of language. The meaning of rhyming compounds is diverse and often unpredictable; they usually denote quantity or intensity. Rhyming compounds are formed by repetition of roots with some changes in the vowels or/and consonants. The system of the word-formation type in question is rather stable and tends to increase.

The paper outlines the interface of prosodic structure and pragmatic features exemplified by the main clause-types of the endangered Eastern Khanty language of Western Siberia. In line with cross-linguistic typological generalizations, the primary function of intonation in Eastern Khanty is identified as manifesting salient discourse status, signaling topic-focus discourse functions, and delineating discourse components, clauses and phrases. In the reviewed types of Eastern Khanty clauses, general correlation is identified between the pitch accent placement and the discourse pragmatic function of Focus. Pitch accent manifests the part of the proposition containing assertion, new, unrecoverable or unexpected information.

This article is based on the theoretic ideas of Kazan linguistic school about syntagmatic relations and describes the syntagmatic relationships of the lexemes meaning “morality” contained in the novels of one of the most shocking and replicable modern writers Sergei Minaev. The main result is that the analysis of syntagmatic relations of words with moral content in the works of this author suggests the emergence of alternative ethical system in the consciousness of a native Russian speaker. In the framework of this system becomes a frequent characteristic to change positive connotation value involved in the correlation of lexemes to a negative one. In addition, under the influence of the text environment occasional syntagmatic relation of lexemes with moral value can cause the formation of new lexical meaning of the words-representatives of category “morality”.

Mysterious figure of the Enlightenment famous adventurer Count Cagliostro (real name Giuseppe Balsamo) left mark in European culture, and became the basis for the “Cagliostro’s myth”. Reflections of this myth in Russian literature usually assigned to Count Cagliostro’s visit to Russia (1780). The article examines three works of Russian literature of the XX century, which connected the image of Cagliostro with a fable about a sorcerer and an enchanted beauty. In Russian tradition of this plot, which started by Pushkin's “Poltava” and N. V. Gogol’s “A Terrible Vengeance”, the heroine for the soul of whom are fighting the forces of good and evil, often becomes the personification of Russia. Comparison of stories of A.N. Tolstoy and I. S. Lukash (both are named after the famous adventurer and written in exile) with “comic fantasy” of G. I. Gorin “Formula of Love” reveals the originality of authors’ interpretations of the fable and their continuity.

The article presents and describes the experience of using different types of case-method (the opinion poll with elements of case-study; independent modeling and resolving the case-situations by students; case-test) in the competency building approach within “History of Pedagogics and Education” discipline for future Bachelor’s degree holders. The article also substantiates the opportunity of translation of most of the historical and pedagogical topics into the language of case-method. The article includes the examples of case-tests and cases described by Bachelor’s degree holders which contributed to the case bank of the discipline. The practice of different forms of the indicated interactive learning approach considering its own principles and teaching principles developed by pedagogics made it possible to solve the following problems that can be faced in the conditions of reduced classroom load: failure to make conclusions on the basis of existing knowledge, failure to establish the connection between the material that is studied at the moment and material studied previously and the interdisciplinary cause-and-effect relationships.

This article is devoted to the role, goals of the institution of curatorship in modern higher professional education. The goals of the institution of curatorship are coordinated with the tasks of modern higher professional education. The Institute of Curators, being one of the forms of educational work in the university, is characterized by the presence of structural and functional components, united by a common goal. An important factor is that the institution of curatorship promotes the development of competencies among students and promotes the all-round development of the student’s personality. A modern understanding of the institution of curators is defined. The article considers the principles on which the institute of curators’ activity is based. Problems are given and tasks of the modern institute of curatorship in the Russian system of higher professional education are singled out. It was noted that the institute needs modernization. Directions for increasing the institution of curator’s efficiency are given. The conclusion about the importance of the institution of curatorship for modern professional education and the prospects for its existence are made. The main provisions on the significant role of the institution of curatorship in modern vocational education are generalized. The problem of ethnopedagogization of the educational process is considered by the author in relation to preschool children attending classes in the institution of additional education for children. The author relies on the conceptual provisions of G.N. Volkov’s work on the ethnopedagogy of holistic teaching and educational process, the ethnopedagogical approach and the means of upbringing. The problem of interaction with the family in the system of additional education for children is being updated. Achievement of the stated goals of ensuring continuity in the education of preschool children in the family and the establishment of additional education for children is called upon to contribute to the ethno-pedagogical approach realized in the course of the study. Ethnopedagogy of the whole educational process is considered as strengthening of its ethno-pedagogical component. An ethnopedagogical model of the upbringing of children in the interaction of the institution of additional education for children with the family is developed, and some results of experimental work on its implementation are presented on the example of the Republic of Kalmykia. Approbation of the developed ethnopedagogical model of the upbringing of children in the interaction between the establishment of additional education for children and the family was carried out on the basis of the Elista Palace of Children’s Creativity of the Republic of Kalmykia. Shows the role of games and events in the system of ethnocultural education, the forms of involving parents in joint activities with teachers and children on preparing and holding a collective activity. The conducted surveys of parents of children attending the Early Development and Preschool Education Center of the Elista Palace of Children’s Creativity reveal the parents’ vision of the national identity of upbringing and the results of family interaction and the establishment of additional education in the implementation of the ethno-pedagogical model. The tested model ensures the realization of ethno-cultural values in the process of educating preschoolers.

The article deals with the semantic features of onomatopoeic words in German and Tatar languages in comparative terms. The aim of the research was to identify the similarities, differences and features in the words under analysis. In each language there are certain features in the perception of sounds. In both languages there are not only onomatopoeia but also the onomatopoeic nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, which are an onomatopoetic vocabulary of each language. It is a universal vocabulary that has much in common even in unrelated languages. Separately is analyzed a group of onomatopoeic nouns, which represent the names of insects, birds and animals in both languages and the principles of their nomination in the Tatar language. In German, these words are non-productive while in Tatar it is the result of word-formation processes. The classification of verbs of sound according to their denotative content takes into account the peculiarities of both languages. Many onomatopoeic verbs are multivalued and can be assigned to several groups at once. Functional possibilities of onomatopoetic lexicon of both languages are considered as well – children’s language, proverbs and set phrases – characteristic of all languages and most vividly reflecting the national identity of the language. Knowledge of these functions is necessary to exclude communicative failures.

Kudryavtseva Irina Petrovna UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF ENGLISH IDIOMS DERIVED FROM SPECIAL TERMS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 5 (202). P. 53-57

Introduction. The article offers a selection and classification of modern English language units of terminological character with etymological comments. The aim of the paper is to consider terminologisms or terms with transferred meaning. Terminologism is a language unit with several components which has either direct terminological or professional meaning. This direct meaning becomes the basis for derived, figurative meaning. It is fixed in speech as a result of repeated use. Material and methods. The language material of this article includes 555 terminological units collected from special philological researches and specialized modern dictionaries of English idioms. The analyzed language units are divided into subgroups by source. The most productive areas of terminology are sports, military and maritime fundamentals, gambling. Moreover, there is reference to language units from the hunting area, theatre, arts, and various sciences. Further on, terminologisms are considered from the point of view of transparency, deducibility of their meaning: both direct and figurative. Results and discussion. It is noted that such fixed expressions can be both completely transparent, clear and completely opaque. Transparent terminologisms, as a rule, are understandable due to the inner form (components) and figurative meaning. Transparent terminologisms are known and recognizable because of general cultural background of the addressee as well. Opaque terminologisms are divided into two groups. On the one hand, there are fixed expressions that contain a specific component. This specific component is a term with the meaning unknown to common people. On the other hand, the inner form of the fixed expression is not entirely understandable. Although all the components are clear, the image conveyed by the term is not clear at all. As a result, the figurative meaning of this term is not deducible. The article comments on the meanings of terminologisms which are considered difficult for understanding. Real examples and dictionary definitions of direct and figurative meanings are given. At the end, the results of the study are summarized. Conclusion. The result of the survey can be used in the special course on modern English phraseology. As a subject of further research, it is assumed that the media and the Internet have the potential for the formation of new modern English terminological units and terminologisms as well.

Introduction. The influence of modern media on the worldview and behavioral attitudes of society remains poorly understood. Behavioral norms, broadcast in the format of talk shows, are the basis for evaluative statements, are correlated with the values of different types. The dialectical relations of the components of the axiological complex determine the feasibility of their joint consideration. The goal is to identify and describe behavioral norms, assessments of a person and the values of society represented in one of the programs of the talk show “Live with Andrey Malakhov”. Material and methods. Linguoaxiological analysis is a semantic analysis of units of different language levels and categories of discursive nature, aimed at identifying normative and estimated values in the field of human behavior. The stages of the analysis are the identification of typical means of expressing these values and the formation on their basis of a factual basis for research, the classification of statements according to their relation to certain types of values, the reconstruction of relevant behavioral norms, the interpretation of the results taking into account information about the features of the talk show format. Results and discussion. Along with the lexical and phraseological units of the language, estimated and normative values are regularly expressed by markers of deontic modality, grammatical means of enlarging the scale of the situation, lexical and grammatical indicators of deviation from the norm; moreover, in their translation involved knowledge. Utility-material prevail in the repertoire of values. Behavioral norms correlate with traditional values of different social groups and post-Soviet values. The influence of the transmission format on the presentation of axiological meanings lies in the relational (from the negative) presentation of the norms of behavior and in the level of their generality, in a strict balance of sign ratings, in the prevalence of personal values over social, utilitarianmaterial – over spiritual. A methodology for describing the axiological complex “behavioral norms, assessments of a person and the values of socie-ty”, presented in a media text imitating a discussion about a socially significant problem, is proposed and tested. Conclusion. The findings correlate with the results obtained in works in other humanitarian areas. Due to the presuppositive nature of the norm semantics, its linguistic reconstruction presupposes attention to non-specialized language means, as well as discursive phenomena.

The presented results of the calculation water balance element for three represent water basin of big Vasyugan mires with a different degree of paludification on month interval for the period 1990–2009 years. There was analysed the perennial track records of the precipitation, evaporations and expenses of water, influence of the change the climate on hydrological marshes regimen. The correlations are estimated between elements of the water balances at different years.

The possibility of review of methodological approaches, which are an important basis in solving the problems of integration into the society, improving the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families. The main emphasis in managing disability and disability shifts to rehabilitation. Rehabilitation of the disabled is complex - a multidisciplinary approach to the recovery abilities to domestic, public and professional activities at a level appropriate to their physical, mental and social potential, allowing for the micro - and macro-environment. The various features of Communication Studies of disabled children with cerebral palsy and discusses their characteristics, where the center is the problem of the family as the most important institution of the primary socialization of the disabled child. Determination of performance criteria of psychological support families with a disabled child with cerebral palsy is based on the results of that psychologist in different directions of research practice support.

Eddy current high frequency pulse action were investigated by electron beam on titanium alloys at an energy density of 15 to 25 J/cm2, power (3 ч 6) 104 W/cm2. The authors demonstrate the possibility of layer determination of hydrogen in the materials treated with an electron beam. The shows the results of calculation of diffusion effects in the hydrogenation of titanium plates.

This article refers to the analysis of precedence as a means of naming and characteristic of a special anthroponym group, the names of writers, in German newspaper and magazine texts. During the study there were found several models that include precedent names (both proper and generic names). These models are being described according to their structure and semantics. The phenomenon of precedence is being analyzed in relation to the newspaper functional style with its special aims and goals. Precedent names are being studied in connection to the source and level of precedence. Functions of using precedent names for naming famous writers are also being discussed in this article.
