The paper, based on data of three languages of the same language family, but with different sociolinguistic status, demonstrates that the development of the language is determined mainly by sociolinguistic factors. Most of these factors are unique for each of the Chukchi-Koryak languages (and that is why the results are different) and one important factor is similar: bilingualism of native speakers and the impact of the Russian language. In the fi eld of grammar the infl uence of the Russian language is hidden from direct observation, and is expressed in development of forms and constructions with corresponences in Russian, and in removal of non-congruent ones.

The article contains the analysis of English sport snowboard terms the selection of which is made from English terminological dictionaries and thematic Internet resources in the English language. The results of the research show that more than half of the English sport snowboard lexicon consists structurally of two-component, three-component and four-component phrases. Semantically two thirds of the English sport snowboard terms denote different types of the board for snowboard, body armour for snowboard, binding and its parts. One third of the English snowboard terminology comprises terms that express parts of the board for snowboard, clothes and boots for snowboard as well as their parts.

This article introduces the information about the absolute age of the relict bog, situated in the poligonal bogs zone (in the south of Gydan peninsula). It is established that this bog isn’t «relic», because it was formed in Holocene. The comparison of peat accumulation of this bog and of oligotrophic bogs was organized and some particular qualities of peat accumulation in the evolution of «relict» peatlands were identified. Also the article presents the botanical composition of the peat deposit of the object of study. The comparison of the Holocene climatic variations on Russian Plane and in Western Siberia for the oligotrophic bogs zone is considered. It is proved that for the reconstruction of climatic variations for the «relict» peat deposit in the Far North regions it’s necessary to consider the inertness of cryogenic processes.

In this article we are talking about a scientific discourse that differs from other types of discourse and has its clear characteristics, requirements and design. Scientific discourse, according to most researchers, is objectified, but as a sphere of human activity, it can not escape the influence of the author’s personality. The primary stage in the creation of a scientific text is the choice of a theme that reflects the title of the text, i.e. already at this stage a pragmatic aspect may appear. Creating the scientific text, the author puts his subjective view, evaluation on the subject of research, also focuses on the reader who will perceive the text, and therefore the position and opinion of the author of the text, agreeing with it or not agreeing, but provoking a reaction and receiving a response to the text. To test this hypothesis, a content analysis of theses on the specialty “General History (of the corresponding period)” was conducted for the period from 1980 to 2010 and revealed the relationship between the choice of the topic of the dissertation and the socio-political situation.

In this article the duality of mentality of a man of traditional cultures of Siberia and the North is characterized by a combination of empirical and pre-ioglcal elements of mentality. Empirical element of mentality of a man of traditional culture embodies individual practical experience of formal-logical order. But being indifferent to the objective cause and effect relationships of the phenomena, he reveals particular attentiveness to manifested and hidden mystical links between phenomena, the basis of which is the law of mystical contiguity of cause and effect. As a result of domination of such law a man of traditional society makes his behavior in the culture. This explains the duality of mentality of a man of traditional culture of Siberia and the North, whose empirical intuition is subjected to the «supreme collective notions*.
