4853 | Non-compact symmetries of extended 4d supergravities involve duality rotations of vectors and thus are not manifest off-shell invariances in standard "second-order" formulation. To study how such symmetries are realised in the quantum theory we consider examples in 2 dimensions where vector-vector duality is replaced by scalar-scalar one. Using a "doubled" formulation, where elds and their momenta are treated on an equal footing and the duality becomes a manifest symmetry of the action (at the expense of Lorentz symmetry), we argue that the corresponding on-shell quantum effective action or S-matrix are duality symmetric as well as Lorentz invariant. This contribution is based on [1]. Keywords: duality symmetry, supergravity | 785
4854 | This work examines the characteristics of mental tempo in children who have experienced physical abuse. The results of investigation have shown that physical abuse negatively influenced on mental rate of primary school age children: in children who have experienced physical abuse there is reduced the mobility of nerve cells which is characterized by either their passive state, or exhaustion. This is manifested by the rapidly advancing fatigue and a change in the index of mental tempo with the intellectual load. Keywords: posttraumatic stress, physical abuse, mental tempo | 785
4855 | The article attempts to develop the genre model of the electronic poly-addressee letter. Emphasizing the monothematic character of the poly-addressee letters, the author divides them into three groups (political, social, and psychological). The next genre parameters of the poly-addressee letter are also to be noted: phatic macro-intention, diffusion between person-cantered and status-cantered communicative fields, complicated nature of the addresser (symbiosis of the virtual and the real communicant), dual nature of the addressee. 4857 | The paper deals with the problems of general managerial skills and the goals of the study of programming languages in the training of managers. In the course of such training the author proposes to distinguish between three levels of management competencies and three approaches to the study of programming languages. Therefore the notion of “program” is seen in three aspects: a program as an abstract finite-state automaton; program as a syntactic construct; program as a system – a model of the world. According to the aims of the course software from primitive level to high level is offered; the steps of learning are established; a number of high-level languages are compared; the existing experience is analyzed. As part of the stated objective for training the author offers means of programming from primitive to high-level; builds a sequence of mastering the basics of programming; compares a number of high-level languages in terms of the task; analyses the existing experience of implementing these ideas in the learning process. 4860 | The article deals with analysis of the professional language personality of Natalia O’Shea – a singer, musician, songwriter and leader of the rock-group “Mel’nitsa” (The Mill). The material of research is the texts of the interviews (2004–2017 years). The author of the article describes in detail the three levels of the artist’s professional language personality: 1) the level of professional consciousness; 2) the verbal level; 3) the motivating and pragmatical level. The texts of the interviews give knowledge about N. O’Shea’s views of nature of creative work, things which inspire the artist, her musical and general erudition. Natalia O’Shea considers her creative work as a complicated subjective process of connection of individual impressions and emotions with allusions to literary works, fairytales and myths. The artist compares songwriting with stained-glass window creation, cultivation of flower etc. She notes that her activity as a musician is tightly connected with her scientific interests in philology. Natalia O’Shea knows terminology of music very well. In her stories about songwriting and recording of songs, playing the musical instruments the artist uses not only professional lexis, but different expressive means of language. There are a lot of onyms and a number of citations in speech of the artist. This research is interesting for linguopersonology and communicative stylistics of text. 4861 | The paper is devoted to studying the communicative and pragmatic foundations of personality self-presentation and its significance in the process of communication. In modern society the intensification of communicative processes demands considerable resources from a person to govern the impression. The development of mass communications and political technologies increases the importance of governing the impression and constructing one’s own image that is not only a mean for various kinds of manipulation, but is a necessary element of self-realization for every person. Most researchers of self-presentation note the man’s aspiration to create a positive image is formed by tactics of emphasizing positive information. The implementation of the tactics in the “star” interview suggests the demonstration of positive characteristics, outstanding leadership skills, and the ability to overcome difficulties, the source of creative inspiration. The texts of the “star” interview are analyzed from the various ways of verbalizing the tactics of emphasizing positive information. The spectrum of lexical-semantic and syntactical means, conducive to positive selfpresentation of the public person is carefully analyzed. The practical value of the work is determined by the possibility to use its provisions and conclusions for preparing training courses and special seminars on communication, cognitive linguistics, pragmalinguistics, and image. Keywords: communication, self-presentation, image, a positive image, the “star” interview, the tactics of emphasizing positive information | 785
4862 | This article considers the cognitive approach to the study of metaphors in poetic discourse, which plays a dominant role in contemporary linguistics. The task of this study is to reveal the influence of the context on the choice of metaphors in poetic texts, to describe the types of contexts and to prove the necessity of contextual analysis in the study of poetic discourse. The article describes the method of getting from linguistic metaphorical expressions to the conceptual metaphor in five steps proposed by Gerard Steen. This method suggests using contextual as well as cotextual information to fill in the gaps in comparative structures of source and target domains. The results of the research show that poetic metaphors are created by means of elaboration, extension and questioning of universal conventional models stored in long-term memory or with the help of combinations of those conventional conceptual metaphors. The interpretational potential of conceptual metaphors depends on the external context, as well as on elements within author’s discursive space. We came to a conclusion that cognitive operations involved into the production of metaphors depend on physical, social and cultural situations. The findings of this research also confirm the hypothesis by Z. Kövecses that the system of conceptual metaphors forms a specific type of context, that is a conceptual-cognitive one. 4876 | The article deals with topical for up-to-date media communication tertiary texts, named so by the author. These texts are reactions to primary and secondary media texts. According to regulative theory as one of the trends of communicative stylistics of text it analyses the regulative potential of tertiary media texts, including typical and more spread regulative means, regulative structures, means of regulativity and regulative strategies, which determine pragmatics of media communication members; reveales the factors, which influence efficiency of this process. Comments to primary and secondary texts from the site of radio station “Echo of Moscow” to the interview of K. Kosachev in April 2017 are the material of the research. It was determined that there is a dependence of regulative potential of tertiary media texts not only on individual peculiarities of its authors (level of their speech and common culture, specificity of world’s view, psychological and cognitive qualities), but also on such factors as informational area (site, in which the text is placed); subjects of primary media text; informational field of author’s and journalist’s language personalities including their value orientation; genre peculiarity of tertiary media text; media channel of connection owing to which efficient reaction on opinions of other Internet users is realised. It was revealed that value modality of tertiary media texts of comments genre is connected with dominating of emotional and valuation vocabulary including invectives, usage of different means of influence, including tropes, phraseological units, aphorisms. Among the regulative structures means of repetition (with citing of opponent’s statements or a primary text’s author) and a contrast for an opposing your own opinion to others is rather spread. The typical for tertiary media texts means of regulativity are the principles of simultaneity and vectors in the text activity of communicants. According to regulative strategy the most frequent strategy is an explicit strategy of intensifying and convergent type with predominance of the logic of expressing emotions. The results are of great interest for the theory of speech influence, media linguistics, communicative stylistics of text. 4877 | The relevance of the study is determined by several areas. First, the languages of the indigenous peoples of Siberia belong to the category of endangered languages lacking an ancient written tradition, thus enhancing the value of the folklore of these peoples as a primary resource allowing us to obtain important linguistic data, as well as to draw significant conclusions regarding the specific features of the genesis of the linguistic and cultural processes of the respective ethnic groups. Secondly, there has emerged a recent particular increase in the interest of researchers in the study of lexical systems of aboriginal languages of Siberia in connection with typological problems. However, up to the present time, no attempts have been made to separately study the system of color markings of the Selkup language. On the material of prosaic folklore texts, as well as lexicographical works on the Taz dialect, an attempt was made to describe the semantic zone “white”. With the aim of studying folklore and lexicographic materials from the point of view of the semantic features of color markings in the context of modern priorities of linguistic research, a set of lexemes with the value of “white” in a corresponding dialect is defined as a result of the work. 4891 | The article deals with the peculiarities of the use of euphemisms and dysphemisms belonging to the functionalsemantic field of death. Euphemisms became important bricks in the walls people have built to keep the dead from making them uncomfortable. The most fertile ground for euphemizing is one where open discussion of a topic is taboo. So it was with sex in the Victorian era, and so it became with death after World War II. Postwar advice books counseled parents to avoid talking about this subject with their children. Having done their best to avoid anything connected with the dying and dead, English-speaking communities replaced associated expressions considered too direct with soothing alternatives. The words ‘passed away’, or simply ‘passed’, and ‘gone’ are the most prevalent synonyms for ‘died’. Much has been written on the psychology of denying imminent death. Euphemisms clearly have an important role to play in this denial process. Growing interest in death and dying during recent decades, supported by several publications on the subject, suggests a certain willingness to face the topic squarely in print. This willingness, however, is not reflected in everyday discourse which can be proved by mass literature contexts. In addition to euphemisms there exist various dysphemisms and slang words. Like euphemisms, dysphemisms are motivated by fear and distaste, but also by hatred and contempt. Slang expressions and dysphemistic terms of insult or disrespect should be avoided in speech and teaching a language. 4894 | The article is devoted to the problem of cognitive interest development among senior schoolchildren of nonhumanitarian classes during the English language acquisition at a secondary school. The author draws attention to the fact that the newly formed scientific branches provide the emergence of new professions, change the system of school education and increase the development of cognitive interest among schoolchildren. The main idea of the present article is to demonstrate the necessity of learning English for senior schoolchildren, whose profile subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics, as new professions actively come into modern life. Foreign language is considered to be polysubject and can enrich senior schoolchildren of non–humanitarian profile with knowledge on Natural Science and Mathematics and develop their cognitive interest. The interest to a foreign language as a subject, in recent times, is explained by it’s penetrating into different spheres and nonlinguistic professions. Actually, spheres of using a foreign language are extended. According to the “Atlas of new professions”, to 2025–2035 many new professions occur, many of them will need the knowledge of a foreign language. Intersubject relations come into modern school education and really extend the zone of subject knowledge on profile because of the interpenetration of knowledge of different subjects. Integration of a foreign language with Science subjects and Mathematics gives the opportunity for schoolchildren to get new knowledge on profile subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Mathematics and others) and increase the development of cognitive interest among senior schoolchildren. We consider that intersubject integration increases schoolchildren’s motivation to learning foreign languages, develops different kinds of thinking, forms the following abilities – to analyze, to generalize, to synthesize, to compare, make conclusions and others.
