The article considers the key features of communication as a tool of linguistic manipulation in advertising discourse. The aim of this study is to investigate the technologies of creating perlocutionary effect in American advertising communication. At the stage of the interpretation the vast majority of American advertising works consisting of few words are transformed into informative and pragmatic semiotic texts. Nowadays the US advertising shows a big variety of products with different degrees of verbal congestion. As a part of this study we have found a lot of advertising samples which include the minimum amount of verbal text: only the name brand or trade mark and single-phrase slogan. It should be noted that even the most minimum quantity of speech act expressed by the well-known and popular person lead to the greater intensity and immensity of its significance. Having analyzed the fragments of advertising texts we conclude that the informative congestion of communication is fundamental to its ability to persuade with the only proviso that by congestion we mean not the number of language units but the amount of their information content. The findings of the integrated and comprehensive study of the informative congestion of discourse and text can be used in pragmalinguistics, text linguistics, functional linguistics, theory of intercultural communication.

Emelyanova Jana Borisovna PROBLEM AWARENESS AS ONE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRANSLATOR’S LINGUA-CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 10 (187). P. 136-141

The article deals with the problem of the specific character of the translator’s knowledge of language and culture. A review of the relevant literature has shown that translation is a unique mode of language use which is significantly different from ordinary communication in a foreign language. The author introduces the concept of “problem awareness” as one of the key characteristics of the translator’s lingua-cultural knowledge. Problem awareness is essential in translation which involves switching between languages. It is understood as the awareness of the linguistic factors causing breakdowns in code-switching in translation, as well as the ability to deal with such problems. These linguistic factors include idioms and proverbs/sayings, translator’s false friends, culture-specific concepts, geographical names and confusing words similar in form, meaning or use. Each linguistic factor is described and its ability to interfere with the process of code-switching is explained. Based on these facts a list of relevant skills and psychological characteristics is presented for each group of linguistic means. The author then provides guidelines for ensuring a targeted approach to the teaching of the above-mentioned linguistic means. These recommendations also include a description of the types of activities which are especially relevant in the context of teaching foreign languages to trainee translators.

The present article analyses motives of K. Vaginov's prose connected with «Mermaid» plots and images in Russian literature (in works by L. Mey, A. Maikcv, A. Blok, 1. Annensky. N. Gumilev, V. Khodassevich, V Khiebnikov, N. Zabofotsky, A. Grin etc.). Female characters of K. Vaginov try to realize themselves as sirens who destroy people. However, they, as a rule, do not succeed in doing that. On the opposite, they are suffering creatures whowa not only « collects» variants of different mermaids from works of literature, but aiso renovates plots about them.

The article is devoted to the unsufficiently studied problem in German linguistics related to the choice of syntactic subordination in the quantitative word combinations with the second component expanded by an adjective (participle) Nquant+AdjN and eine Art +AdjN. The material analysed has shown that despite recommendations of classic grammar reference books to choose co-ordination as a type of subordination for the syntactic structure of these constructions, the genitive and prepositional subordination still exists and is the most widely used one. Moreover, the hypothesis that the syntactic organization of these constructions is determined by the grammatical characteristics of their components has been confirmed.

In the experiences with the participation of 266 subjects it is shown that the expert estimations of eighty personal special features of subjects make it possible with the high accuracy to forecast expert report about professional aptitude of subject as the worker. In the experiences with the participation of 261 students of VUZ - Institute of Higher Education it is shown that the self-estimations by the subjects of their personal special features are sufficient for the forecast of the professional directivity of each concrete person with the indication of the probability of the realization of this forecast. In both experimental situations the apparatus for plural linear regressions was used. One half of subjects served for calculating the parameters of diagnostic equations, another half served for checking the accuracy of diagnostics blindly. The high validity of expert estimations and self-estimations in the tasks of professional diagnostics is proven

This article discusses the features of the discourse generated by the students of the 5th year, studying “Theory and methods of teaching foreign languages and cultures”, generated in the implementation of the two types of speech acti vity: consecutive interpreting of a technical text, and introducing new grammar material in an English class. The research shows the existence of a connection between the discourse of one and the same respondent in both communicative situations, expressed in his/her use of a communication strategy – presentation, manipulation and convention, which is explained by the level of development of the secondary language identity of the respondent – a student of linguistics.

This article defines the role of women who actively participated in the development of different forms of existence of music in the late 19th and early 20th centuries at the first university in Siberia. Consideres the issues of the history of formation and the main directions of the activities of the provincial archives of the second half of XIX – beginning of XX centuries; the role of archives of the organs of provincial and district Zemstvo self-government in the preservation of the documentary heritage of the Russian Zemstvo and popularization of research historical study of local lore in the pre-revolutionary period; the analysis of the formation of documentary archives of Zemstvos, the established rules of reception, storage, disposal and use of archival documents of local selfmanagement, material and technical conditions of functioning of the provincial archives and the activities of the heads of departments. Presents the analysis of the archivists’ wage, the contents of the archives in the structure of the Zemstvo institutions. States the importance of the archival documentary Fund of district councils. Documents of the organs of local self-government in many respects are perfectly preserved due to the fact that already at the moment of its creation were intended for publication and dissemination. Furthermore, the Zemstvo-ists keep their participation in the work of the archival commissions of the state-level financing of their work, continuing the publication of collections of papers and methodological developments in archival business. Careful attitude to their archives (exceptions were rare) have done a lot for development of the archive work in Russia. The archives of the Zemstvo self-government, aware of the importance of their historical documents, became the basis for the development of the local Museum, the activity of local societies of the researchers of the region history. The theoretical significance of this work is that it is the first complex work, where on the basis of the sources a special concrete historical research of the activities of regional archival departments is organized. The practical significance of the work is determined by the ability to use the materials and conclusions in the preparation of the summarizing of scientific works, creation of special courses on Russian history, records keeping and archival studies, the history of local government.

Poleva Elena Aleksandrovna GENRE OF THE AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL MINIATURE STORY ABOUT CHILDHOOD: ANGELIKA SUMBAYEVA’S PROSE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 2 (179). P. 87-92

The article is devoted to the research of autobiographical miniature stories of the modern writer Angelika Sumbayeva. Classical works (M. Bakhtin, L. Ginzburg etc.) give the ideas of typological signs of poetics of autobiographical prose of the childhood which are observed in A. Sumbayeva’s prose: psychologism, retrospective view, lyrical modality of the narration caused by the attitude of the storyteller towards the hero. At the same time the volume of a miniature causes features of A. Sumbayeva’s prose: laconicism of descriptions, accuracy in selection of details; transfer of psychological state through nuance, details. The article alalyses in detail the cycle of the stories published in 2010 in the magazine for children “A Yellow Caterpillar” and built according to calendar chronology (winter, spring, summer). In miniature stories the features of art space come to light (including, the use of attributive features of the Siberian region, its climatic originality), functions of gesture, nuance, phrases in the transfer of a psychological portrait of characters, narrative techniques which form the author’s attitude towards the autobiographical character (for example, use of the narration in third person, but transfer of attitude of the child associating reality with the fantastic world through the direct speech). In miniatures there is an image of the natural world of Siberia in general, and the autobiographical image appears as typical, given in circumstances, recognizable, familiar to the Siberian reader. Miniatures of Angelica Sumbayeva recreate the world of childhood as a harmonious, open to the new, capable to take a miracle to transform the ordinary into the world of fairy tales.
