1 | Introduction. The appearance of a new specialty “Architectural environment design” in universities made it necessary to systematize the terminological apparatus of this field. The purpose of this article is to create a logical and conceptual model of the terminological field “Interior Design” as a component of the terminological macro field “Architectural environment design”. Material and methods. The material for the study is architectural and design terms (more than 620 categories), taken from the academic and research literature, lexicographical sources, professional Internet communication, electronic journals, websites of design studios and design webstores, data from the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The descriptive and the comparative methods of linguistic research, techniques of modeling, definition and component analysis are used in the paper. Results and discussion. A brief background of the issue and the interpretation of terminological field adopted in the work is presented: “Terminological field is a systemically standardized multi-level classification structure that combines the terms of the sphere of homogeneous professional activity” (L.A. Morozova). The logical-conceptual model of the terminological field “Interior design” is a model construction of a system of interrelated concepts classified around the central concept of the sphere of interior design based on the classification of concepts. In order to identify the boundaries and hierarchical organization of the term system the conceptual (logical-conceptual, thematic) aspect of the analysis of it is mainly associated with the onomasiological approach, and in this case the terminological field is intended to reflect the scope of special use of this field of knowledge. As a result of the analysis of professional texts, the boundaries of the terminological macro field “Architectural environment design”, consisted of the terminological fields “Interior design” and “Open architectural space design”, are determined. The framework of professional vocabulary included in the terminological field “Interior Design” is formed, its definition and systematization are carried out. Conclusion. The multi-level branched hierarchical organization of the terminological field “Interior design”, consisting of two subfields (“Residential interior design” and “Public interior design”) is revealed, the subfields are divided into terminological microfields, thematic groups, thematic subgroups and thematic microgroups (11 term groupings of different levels). Thus, the conceptual model of the terminological field “Interior design”, which is a fragment of the terminological macro field “Architectural environment design”, is constructed. The results of the work are relevant to linguists, specialists in the field of architectural environment design, as well as students of the specialty “Architectural environment design”. 2 | At this stage of the terminology development, terminologists are particularly interested in studying the terminology of special fields of knowledge using a cognitive approach. The use of frame analysis in terms of this approach makes it possible to present the terminology model of any professional field most successfully. The purpose of the paper is to build a cognitive-frame model of the Russian term system of the field “Open architectural space design” as a fragment of the architectural and design terminology of the professional sphere “Design of architectural environment”. The material for the analysis is more than 680 lexical units of the field “Open architectural space design”, selected using a continuous sampling method from texts of educational, scientific and Internet sources of the specialty “Design of the architectural environment”, architectural design and linguistic dictionaries and reference books. The research methodology is based on general scientific and linguistic methods and techniques: descriptive, comparative methods, methods of classification and linguistic modeling, as well as definitional, contextual and frame analysis. The basic concepts within the framework of the cognitive approach are defined. The interpretation of the terms frame, subframe, slot is presented. The theoretical foundations of frame modeling are highlighted, the frame structure used in the study is justified. A hierarchical cognitive-frame model of the term system “Open architectural space design” is constructed, consisting of three frames: “Urban environment design”, “Landscape design”, “Lighting design”. Within each frame, units of lower levels such as subframes, slots and micro-slots are allocated. Interframe processes have been studied: the relations of intersection within the macroframe “Open architectural space design”, including between units of different levels, as well as the relations of intersection with the macroframe “Interior Design” are revealed. The special role of the frame “Lighting Design” is defined, consisting of general terminology for the macroframes “Open architectural space design” and “Interior design” and specific terms for each of them. The frame model of the term system “Open architectural space design” makes it possible to present a hierarchically organized system of the terminology and identify its intra-system relationships. The results of the research can be useful for terminologists, specialists in the field of architectural environment design, for teaching practice in universities. 3 | The need of society to train the qualified specialists in the field of architectural environment design serves to form thisThe need of society to train the qualified specialists in the field of architectural environment design serves to form this sphere as a professional one in 21st century. The emergence of the latest technologies and materials leads to the fact that many naming units of this field are borrowed with the culture-bound term and experience of foreign designers. The relevance of the work is the need of studying the foreign language terminology due to the professionals’ necessity to unify it. The purpose of this work is to describe the phenomenon of xenogenicity in the terminology of “Design of architectural environment”. Xenogenicity refers to the presence of a language unit of formal and/or semantic correlation with the equivalent of a foreign language. The material for the study was the foreign-language namings of the field “Design of architectural environment”, selected from such sources as terminological and encyclopedic dictionaries, educational and scientific literature, and professional Internet resources. The methodological basis of the article is the general scientific and linguistic means of descriptive and lexicographic methods. The scientific novelty of the work is due to the fact that terminological units of foreign language origin that are not recorded in lexicographic sources have been identified and analyzed, current materials of professional Internet discourse have been introduced into scholarly discourse. In the course of the study, there were analyzed architectural and design terms containing foreign-language components located at different language levels: phonetic-graphic, morphemic, lexical, syntactic. Terms with foreign language elements of the phonetic-graphic and lexical levels of the language demonstrate full explicit xenogenicity. The phonetic-graphic level of xenogenicity is represented by foreign-language inclusions, lexical borrowings represent xenogenicity at the lexical level. At the morphemic level incomplete xenogenicity is demonstrated in borrowings with partial morphemic substitution and in hybrids (words consisting of the elements of different origin) as well as in derivatives formed on the basis of the foreign-language units. Implicit xenogenicity is found in non-original architectural and design terms, which appeared as a result of loan translations at the lexical level and phraseological calques at the syntactic level. Complex (explicit-implicit) xenogenicity is characteristic of word-formation and phraseological half-calques, respectively, at the lexical and syntactic levels. Dictionary entries of professional terms for sphere “Architectural environment design” are given as exemplification of the various types of xenogenicity. It is found out that the lexical units of architectural and design terminology have xenogenicity of different degrees: full and incomplete explicit xenogenicity as well as implicit and combined explicit and implicit xenogenicity. The largest number of lexical units express xenogenicity explicitly. The practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of using its materials in lexicographic practice.
