The article, which is devoted to 500th anniversary of Dostoevskys clan and 185th anniversary of his birth, analyzes the functions of “precious memories” about childhood that express the author’s belief in the transformation of man. Similar functions of such episodes are found in books by other Russian classical writers (such as L.N. Tolstoy and I.S. Turgenev)
