The article regards approaches to the interpretation of the semantics of denominal adjectives. One of the issues is to draw a demarcation line between the relational and qualitative adjectives that are the results of different types of derivation – syntactic and lexical. Another issue is to describe all possible types of denominal adjective contextual meanings and to regard the factors that determine their realization – formal-semantic and cognitive.
