The paper is dedicated to the etymology of some hydronyms from «The Tale about Igor’s Troops». The etymology of Kayala (which at present is the Wolf-river, tributary of Samara) may be deciphered from the turkic *kyj «crookedness» and the Karaim jaly «bank», thus «Kayala» means «a crooked bank».
