The author of the article for the first time researches the wedding rituals of the Tomsk Tatars in the context of A. van Gennep’s theory of “transition rituals”. This research of the wedding rituals of the Tatars determines stages structure of rituals of traditional wedding. These stages we can correlate with the stages of “transition rituals”. The structure of transition rituals consists of the next stages: rituals of separation; rituals of connection; intermediate rituals.
