THE SOVIET-FINNISH WAR AND THE PROBLEM OF EAST KARELIA IN RELATIONSHIP OF FINLAND AND THE SOVIET RUSSIA IN 1918–1923 YEARS
The article is devoted to the formation of the sovereignty of Finland after secession of the Russian Empire on a wide background of the international relations, including World War I events. It analyses the multidirectional political events, which have led to opposition with the Soviet Russia, pro-German policy of the young Finnish state, attempts to involve the League of the nations in territorial disputes. On the basis of general C. G. Mannerheim memoirs the author researches his role in the defence of Finland’s independence.
