PATHOLOGICALLY ALTERED STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS: EPISTEMOLOGICAL AND ETHICAL ANALYSIS
This article examines the criteria identify “pathologically” altered states of consciousness (“mental and behavioural disorders”) from a variety of altered states of consciousness. It demonstrates the deficiency and the haziness of epistemic characteristics of pathologically altered states of consciousness, the social nature of the criteria characterizing the altered states of consciousness as a “mental disorder”, the role of value systems in the choice of the methodology of the pathologically altered states of consciousness.
