The article dwells upon the descriptor theory of metaphor applicable to the sphere of scientific discourse. With reference to notions “significative descriptor” and “denotative descriptor” the metaphorics of alternative energy sphere is analysed. Exemplified by denotative descriptors and the metaphorical models serving as the basis for the interaction of the former are identified.
