The formation of the system of powerful territorial and industrial clusters, the so-called “poles of growth”, can result in global competitiveness of Russia and its regions. The article discusses the possibility of Krasnodar region to become one of these poles, based on its involvement in international economic relations. The analysis of foreign trade of the region is given in this article, as well as analysis of the volume of foreign investments into the economy of the region, considering factors of investment potential of the region.
