The merits of the sign system are examined in the article, some of their aspects using to the teaching of biology are analysed, the main principles of project of sign system in the conditions of the passage of school to the federal state standards of the second generation. Some examples of modern sign system, using on the biology lessons is given. The effect of created sign system using of which promotes to raise the quality of biology knowledge of pupils, increases the level of adopting biology concepts.
