The article is devoted to substantiation of the major role of modal words in the language expressing of concepts. These lexical units with a bright modal or epistemic load play an irreplaceable role in expressing modal values in any natural language. In our examples, we are presenting the material of Khanty – one insuffi ciently described language (in semantics terms) which is spoken in the North of Western Siberia.
