The article treats the role of componential analysis in solving lexical, lexical and grammatical, and stylistic challenges of translation. The paper maintains that componential analysis enables the translator to understand what causes translation challenges, to suggest effective and efficient strategies of overcoming the challenges, to select adequate translation equivalents and to proofread the translation.
