The purpose of this article is to find out general features of the Russian national world image in English theoretical investigations conducted on a Russian national drama «Storm». The researchers made an attempt to explain the drama through some basic ideas that were considered as the essence of the Russian culture. The analysis of these papers allows to point out and describe one of the characteristic features of this text, «ambivalence», which is also considered to be one of basic elements of a Russian cultural paradigm.
