The article discusses the problem of the color term murasaki (purple) in the Japanese modern tanka poetry comparing with the same poetic methods from the classical poetry. The objects of the research were the works written by such authors as Masaoka Shiki (1867–1902), Yosano Tekkan (1872–1935) and Yosano Akiko (1878–1942).
