The article presents the materials of sociological research carried out among the student youth of Novosibirsk. The author considers the problem of the formation of reproductive purposes of megapolis youth and analyzes the factors determining them. Special attention is given to understanding of the reasons of disagreement of the desired and expected number of children. The article also considers the role of family in the formation of reproductive purposes that is especially important at the contemporary stage of society development.
