The process of development of classical philology in Tomsk from the opening of the faculty of history and philology in Tomsk State University up to the present is studied in the article. The conclusion is made that Tomsk can keep the status of a sciert. title and educational centre of classical philology in Siberia only under circumstances of educational and scientific foundation's intensive development.
