The paper deals with one of the forms of organizing research and enlarging knowledge of lecturers of the pre-revolutionary Tomsk University such as scientific business trips abroad of professors, privat-docents, grant-aided students. Business trips abroad made for consolidation of science-based relations and familiarization with achievements of world science.
