Homogeneous blend of very fine TiC particles and of a phase such as of particles of NiTi alloy were consolidated to full density by sintering which was followed by rapid heating with formation of liquid phase. Fine particles of phases, were obtained by sintering with formation at relatively low temperatures. The alloys and composites obtained have a very fine micron/submicron scale homogeneous microstructure and high mechanical properties
