1 | The comparative analysis of seasonal shoot growth cycle between latitudinal and altitudinal Siberian stone pine ecotypes growing under the homogeneous environments of clone archive was conducted. Among latitudinal ecotypes differences in shoots and needles growth dates and duration were more significant than those among altitudinal ones. More significant differentiation among latitudinal ecotypes, probably, was related to their development not only contrast climatic conditions but in different photoperiodic regime in contrast to altitudinal ecotypes. 2 | A new chemical-biological method of preventing soil erosion using cryogel in combination with perennial grasses is proposed. The cryogel proved no negative impact on aboriginal soil microflora. On the one hand the cryogel polymer matrix in the soil is strong enough to withstand the effects of erosion but on the other hand it is quite elastic, so it will not hinder plant growth. The seeds germinated through the cryogel layer form a stable green cover. Cryogels are harmless to humans and environmentally friendly.
