LEARNER AUTONOMY IN LANGUAGE TEACHING: THE HISTORY OF THE CONCEPT IN THE FOREIGN PEDAGOGY
In this paper the concept of learner autonomy is reviewed in its historical development in pedagogy and in foreign languages teaching. The opinions of different scientists on the problem of learner autonomy development in a learning process are given, the projects carried out in this field of research are described, the conditions necessary for successful learner autonomy development are stated, the factors which served as a stimulus for the development of learner autonomy concept are analyzed.
